# CK One: buy the 200 ml, not the 300 ml

£32.80 against £53.33. You get 100 ml more for £20.53, which is worse than the rate you were already paying.

The 100 ml is the size most people buy and most retailers push.

£28.50 works out at 28.5p a millilitre. So £4.30 more takes you from 100 ml to 200 ml, which is the single best move on this page.

Then there is the 20 ml.

£18.99 for 20 ml is 95p a millilitre, nearly six times the 200 ml rate. It is a reasonable thing to buy if you want CK One in a bag and nothing else, and an expensive mistake if you bought it because £18.99 looked cheaper than £28.50.

## Today against what we have seen

CK One is at £28.50 for the 100 ml as we write this, and we have recorded it as high as £45.60 in the same window.

That is a wide band for a fragrance this old and this widely made, and it is the reason a headline discount tells you almost nothing here. A shop advertising 30% off a £45 reference price is asking more than a shop quietly listing it at £28.50.

Five UK retailers stock it, so there is usually somewhere cheaper than the first result you clicked.

## Why it is this cheap

CK One launched in 1994 and has been in production ever since. Nothing about it is scarce, and shops discount it because they can always get more. It was marketed as a shared fragrance rather than a men's or women's one, which was unusual then and is unremarkable now.

## Before you buy

Check the size on the retailer's own page. CK One is sold in more sizes than most fragrances and listing titles get truncated, so the cheapest-looking result can be the 20 ml or a gift set rather than the bottle you meant.
